Geek/CounterGeek – #29: May The Force (Friday) Be With You

There is some brewing controversy over Kermit the Frog’s relationship status in the new Muppet series on ABC.

Horror movie director Wes Craven died during the week at the age of 76. Elliott Serrano and Keith Conrad talked a little bit about Craven’s impact on the horror genre and also pop culture in general.

Steven Spielberg knows a little something about making successful movies, and he is saying that this recent golden age of superhero movies will eventually end, the same way that Hollywood’s love affair with westerns eventually came to an end.

Plus, this past Friday was “Force Friday” and store shelves all over the place were packed with Star Wars-related products. Keith talked with Elliott about what we learned about The Force Awakens, what’s still a mystery and what interest rate Elliott got on his second mortgage to afford all of that stuff.

Each week Keith Conrad and Chicago’s Top Geek Elliott Serrano debate a controversial topic in contemporary geekery: Kirk vs. Picard? Was Douglas Quaid dreaming in Total Recall? No topic is off limits.
